David Koch, is an American businessman, political activist, chemical engineer and philanthropist as well. In 1970, he joined the family business Koch Industries.

Koch is an American multinational company  involved in different core industries such as manufacturing and refining, even distribution of petroleum, chemicals, energy, fiber, intermediates and polymers, minerals, fertilizers to name a few. This  happened to be the 2nd largest privately held company in the United States.

In 1979, he became president of the subsidiary Koch Engineering and became a co-owner of Koch Industries in 1983  with older brother Charles. At present, he is the executive vice president.
