Pokemon is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995 and it is managed by The Pokemon Company which is a Japanese consortium between Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures. The franchise is basically centered on fictional creatures called “Pokemon” which the Pokemon trainers catch and train to battle each other for sport.

The name Pokemon is the romanized contraction of Japanese brand Pocket Monsters. In addition, it refers to the 722 unknown fictional creatures that have made appearances in Pokemon media. Players are designated as Pokemon Trainers and have two general goals and that is to complete the Pokedex by collecting all of the available Pokémon creatures found in the fictional region where a game takes place, and train a team of powerful Pokémon from those they have caught to compete against teams owned by other Trainers and eventually win the fictional Pokemon League.

Today, Pokemon really made its way to the top. Players are getting busy with their eyes glued to their phones as the Pokemon Go craze bounces around the world.
