13. Shalimar Garden, Pakistan

Shalimar Garden in Pakistan is a traditional Persian garden built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century. The garden stands to show that South Asia also know how to create and build a luxurious garden. The construction of the garden started in 1641 and were completed within a year. The garden is shaped like an oblong parallelogram and surrounded by high brick walls. This 80 acres garden has a total of 410 fountains and 5 water cascades, out of which The Great Marble stands out as the most impressive. The garden also has summer pavilions, sleeping chambers and a grand hall, a royal bath, minarets and a resting place. In 1981, the garden was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
