Athens Lunatic Asylum – Athens, Ohio
The hospital began its operation on January 9, 1874. They provided services to variety of patients including Civil War veterans, children and violent criminals suffering from various mental illness. The hospital is best known for as a sight for the infamous lobotomy and paranormal sightings. After the building was closed, the state of Ohio acquired and renamed the building to The Ridges.
