Yes! They are just holes but to some people, they are pure fear. Trypophobia is the pathological fear of objects with irregular patterns of holes such as ant hills and bee hives. People who suffer from this physically feel sick or even pass out at the sight of holes. Although many people are suffering from this phobia, it is not officially recognized as a condition by the American Psychiatric Association.
