The Parasite Museum
The Parasite Museum is based in Tokyo, Japan and it displays about 300 unique selections of parasites with free entry. There is no history, artwork, demonstration or any cultural artifacts but purely a parasitological museum. This museum was established in 1953 by a local doctor concerned by the increasing number of parasites he was encountering due to unsanitary post war conditions. The gruesome centerpiece of the museum is an 8.8m long tapeworm found in the body of a 40 year old Yokohama man.
