Maori Warrior Masks
The Maori warriors lived in New Zealand a long time ago. Before they head to battle, they used to carve out masks and statues. According to the Maori belief system, any man who died in battle would leave his soul behind on one of the masks. Good thing the masks seem to pose no threat to men but it was found that pregnant women who came close to the masks, suffered complications or other unfortunate events. Several masks are being display in New Zealand today but women that are expecting are advised not to go near the masks for their own safety and safety of their child. The curse was never explained but it is best not to think this as simply superstition because it’s simply not worth the risk.
